Help with the name or color of stones Please

I know there is a name for this time of stone. I am just not sure what it is called. Every time I look at it I just think Moon stone I know it sounds pretty stupid, but for some reason that is stuck in my head. I know there is a name or a color they call these. Does anyone know what they are? TIA

Let Me Have It

my handmade bracelets did not sell.is there anything i could have done differently,or am i just a casualty of ebay's new caste system? shortly after listing,i went searching for them in ebay's default "best match",and found them at the bottom of page 5 of 200 listings per page.had i just dropped them on the street i think they'd have been seen by more people.the little exposure they did get,i believe came from posting them in our "coming attractions" thread. completed auctions: Link Link

Not jewelry, just an an old belt buckle. Anyone know 'rj'?

This is an old brass belt buckle featuring a milk man and his dairy cart and horse. Any guesses on age? I'm assuming 50's or 60's trying to look more vintage, but I really don't know. Back says 'rj' and copyright symbol. Any ideas? TIA

Need help with German carved pendant

I bought this today because I didn't know what it was (always love a new challenge) but it looked intriguing. It is some type of carved pendant and it looks like some type of warrior. I didn't think the chain looked like it belonged on this pendant but closer examination showed that the chain is marked GERMANY and considering the subject of the pendant, I believe the chain may actually be original. It looks like a Werther's Original cough drop carved with a warrior head and colored in silver. That's my best description but I hope the pictures do better. The color is a gold metal but I took these quickly outside and with the 100 degree Florida sun, it looks a bit bright and not as gold as it actually is. Any help would be appreciated and TIA ! *~*Joey*~*

Cuervo y Sobrinos Watches out of South Florida

There are two sellers in the Miami Fl area that are putting fake Cuervo and Sobrinos watches on Ebay. They are selling quite well but they are onvious fakes. They use a 50's vintage watch and repaint the dail as Cuervo y Sobrinos would. Careful inspection reveals that all their watches have the same imperfections in the exact same place. These watches are being sold as Cuban watches in original condition. My emails to them to stop bring vulgar responese in Spanish. How do we get these thieves of of Ebay?

Help with a Weird Creepy Maybe Masonic Ring!

I got this from my dealer friend. He thought I'd like it since it was so unusual. Sterling setting, size 11 3/4 . It looks like the ring was cut down in size as there is a repaired split at the back of the shank. Signed "STERLING" and "09". Looks like the setting probably once held something else, a stone perhaps, but now this strange symbol made from what I think is copper has been put in. The back of the ring looks pretty nasty. Very hard glue and paper towel attached, I don't even know where to begin as far as cleaning that up. There is a clearly done initial or letter "E" and under that a strange worn or intentionally blurry symbol of some kind, or maybe I'm just seeing things. What do you all think of it? Is there another board where I should post this where they might know the symbol? Thanks!

Whose my Papa? Icy Blue Rhinestone necklace.

I purchased this necklace at a TS last week. It was a strange experience as I also had set aside a baggie with a single Sherman Earring and another Triad item. A short while later when I went through the checkout the items were no longer in the hold bin. Someone had removed them and stashed them back in the display case :-/ (This is the second time in one week, at different stores, that items I have had set aside have disappeared from the bin. The other item was never found.) Anyway, the only thing I can see wrong with this necklace is the hook is missing. Seems strange to me as there is no damage to the end. I am speculating that maybe the hook might have had a Maker's Mark? I am pretty sure I have eliminated Sherman and D

Looking for a particular Avon piece

Hi joolies, I am looking for a particular Avon jewelry item, just in case ya'll know anyone who sells Avon, particularly if they have older stock. I bought my youngest dd an Avon Asthma bracelet about 4 or 5 years ago. It was cute, kind of like a charm bracelet where the links could be changed. Like it was 2 link bracelets, one red, one blue and you could hook the silvertone ASTHMA plate onto whichever one you felt like wearing. She lost it some time ago and has outgrown her other old ugly boring one. She has serious asthma and needs to wear one. If anyone has a line on one of these or a similar cute bracelet for a little girl who is almost 13, please contact me! Oh, I can't afford something expensive... I did find some wristband type ones, ala Livestrong type, that I might get a couple of for her but she loves charm bracelets ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I ask not for a lighter burden, but for broader shoulders. ~Jewish Proverb

If one of my designs is over 20 years old, should I classify it as vintage? I know this is a very important topic and am curious as to what others feel. Diamonbar Pin, Garnets or Rhinestones?

Hi, I have this diamonbar pin and the stones are the deepest of red, hard to capture in this cloudy weather. I am wondering if these would be garnets? They have a rhinestone cut, I thought garnets were cut different? I'm googling, but all I come across are items for sale. I see the era Diamonbar was in, and am trying to see if these would be set with garnets. Why they look jet black in pics is confusing? Maybe they are black, omg. Where do YOU buy vintage jewelry for resale?

Hello, I'm just curious where people buy their vintage jewelry for resale? I usually buy at auctions and sometimes antique stores. Garage sales - I rarely find anything of value. I'm curious also if anybody has ever tried purchasing a lot of grabbag jewelry from the goodwill online site? Some of those bags of unsorted (really?) jewelry sell for a couple of hundred dollars. I haven't tried Craig's list. It seems really competitive to buy in my area - their are lots of bigger fish than me trolling the waters for good costume jewelry.

Are the flower petals and pearls too small? Opinions please.

I ordered these in hopes they would fill the square holes in the round settings on the Coro brooch, thought by description they would be bigger, but I'm not convinced they are what I'm looking for to repair it, what do you think? Does it need something bigger? I haven't glued them in yet, they are just sitting there, and in seeing the pictures I see where I need to pick out better petals, ones that aren't missing enamel, if you think they aren't tooooo small? After you do a repair on a signed piece where do you list it and what do you call it? Honest opinions please, not going to hurt my feelings. Thanks for any help. Barb

OT viruses and now hackers on eBay, scarey

This was just blocked by Norton 360 when I was trying to access live chat here on eBay. I had just been asked for my auction number and didn't think when this came up, just thought they were trying to make sure I was who I said I was. Norton blocked and said was an illegal site trying to access my account. Anyone know anything more about this? Dede I did the full scan with Norton and then with Prevx (says all clear) and changed password, thanks. I sent copy to eBay also. Dear eBay member, eBay recently announced a new safety initiative called Trusted Selling with Identity Confirmation that will help to protect members from unauthorized listings in that seller's name. Chico, Chicos, Chico's.....sick of fakes!

I am new to ebay and am not a seller yet. BUT -- I have read the rules of selling and I absolutely do not understand how so many of these sellers of "Chicos, Chico, Chico's" jewelry cover themselves by saying that all of the tags have been removed to prevent store returns, but in fact are selling pure unadulterated FAKES as Chico's jewelry. It took me a while to learn but I am now requesting a photograph of the attached metal tag before bidding. In the meantime, I have about 6 pieces of "jewelry" that, when I took them to my local Chico's, they practically laughed out loud, wondering how I could possibly think such "JUNK" could be remotely connected to the costume jewelry they sell. Additionally, I contacted Chico's headquarters where a rep stated that they DO NOT USE "Liquidators" (which most of these sellers claim as the source of their Chicos jewelry.) Instead, they send unsold pieces to the Chico's Outlet stores. So, I am left with some choices...BUT FIRST OF ALL, how do they get away with it? ~~Do I have to pay the postage myself to return to these fraudulent sellers? ~~Do I open a claim in the resolution center for each one? ~~Should I report each one? ~~Should I ask each seller to pay for the return shipping themselves because they misrepresented the item? ~~Will my own feedback be affected if I do any of the above? And finally, again, how do they get away with it? It's fraud!

Throwing myself at the feet of the experts - Silver Cross

All right, so, I picked up this piece in a lot, and am now curious about it - and was hoping someone on the board might know more. The back is marked 90 on the little two crosses attached to the main body, and the main body of the cross has (very lightly imprinted), birds and flowers. I saw this auction (not mine) - 140343658301, and the markings on the back are similar (although these are a lot clearer), but the construction is slightly different in where the bezel set stone attaches to the cross. Am I in the right ballpark, though, or completely off? Can anyone tell me anything about it - is it Russian? Is this a newer copy?

How would you proceed w/this request for return??

Asking for some advice, I really don't want a negative, but have a feeling I have one coming. I sold a necklace that was clearly listed as being oxidized silver. Well, the buyer emails me today telling me she is disappointed because the necklace was dirty looking and she used her entire polishing cloth to get it shiny, and her cloth is completely black. The necklace was NIB, I know it was not "dirty" when it was sent as it was also stored in the orignal plastic packaging and I always make sure I clean prior to shipping just in case. My concern is that if she polished to the extent is sounds like she did, she took all of the oxidation off and it is now not in the original condition which may make it difficult to relist. I offered to send her a brand new polishing cloth

deltah pearl necklaces

Hi, girls, I talked to you this weekend about an auction I was going to. The subject of deltah came up, and someone noted that there was a tag that said heller and sons. Well, I did not get that set. But, I got a necklace, in a nice pink celluloid box, that has a pearl necklace, with graduating beads. The clasp is marked with an M in a diamond, which I'm assuming goes back to the heller and sons. On ebay, there are some listed as faux pearls, and some listed as simulated pearls, etc. How do you know the difference to know whether the pearls I got are just the coated kind of pearls, like miriam haskells are, or real cultured or simulated pearls? Please help with material of black Cameo? Victorian?

For some reason, I cannot figure out the material of this cameo. It is very light wieght, definitely not glass, and looks molded. I know it is not Bakelite (no smell, tests negative). I don't think it is Jet (looks molded and leaves a mark on porcelain that is black), or Bog Oak (it is very black, without any brown). So, could this be Vulcanite? If a possibility how do I tell? Or am I way off base and it is a newer plastic? I believe the clasp is older, but I could be wrong there as well. The clasp does not fit flush with the piece, and where it was pushed in there are some chards of the material, still connected. Please help to point me in a direction. Thank you! just a warning; there is a seller on ebay who sells lia sophia but is apparently too lazy to take their own pics and will steal others' to get an auction up. I put up my first-ever auction to sell my unworn L.S. necklace - later upon checking other auctions with the same necklace, I find my pic on their auction. Though this is clearly against ebay's TOS, the member responded to my requests for removal only AFTER the auction had ended and said "the auction is done now, so you dont' have to worry about your pic being up" among other flippant remarks. Wow, glad I could help! I should charge a commission fee for my work Anyhow, the ebay id to watch out for is mbv57. Anyone have a book with Christmas Tree Pins? Help please!

Hi Joolies! I picked up this Christmas Tree Pin marked Weiss. I was wondering if anyone has seen this pin or has it in a book. It looks strange to me, like some stones fell out and were replaced with the wrong color. I'm wondering if they should all be either red or AB, but not a mix of both. If the different colors were scattered around the pin it would be fine but the way these are distributed it seems strange. Thanks for any help! Marie

Okay, What is this pin? Anyone have a clue? Coat of Arms?

I got this pin in a lot and although it is interesting in looks, I haven't the faintest idea what it is or what to call it? Would "Odd" maybe be a good name for it? There are no markings and I don't even know where to begin to look up something like this. Help please? Would be much appreciated. Thank you. Barb

Necklace marked 'ORA' Dating guesses WELCOME...

I haven't come across any ORA jewelry until I found this necklace today. Through books I see that the company is still making jewelry and it can be difficult to date. This necklace is choker size at 15 1/2" and it's hinged in 3 places. Signed ORA. It's missing one marquise purple rhinestone that I think can replace. I think it's 50's era but what do you guys think ? The detail is incredible and VERY well made.

Vintage Air Force Sterling Ring

I could use some help identifying the era of this ring. It is sterling silver with a deep red Garnet, faceted on the bottom, worn and smooth on top. Beautiful detail in the wings and claws. The only thing I know for sure, is that my dad has had this ring stashed away for the last 51 years...and it wasn't his. Thanks for any input.

Era, stone and Designer help on these vintage earrings?

Hi! I know it's near impossible to tell from the photos, but i thought I might get an idea on these. They strike me as a little more special than a generic vintage jewelry and something makes me think they could be a particular designer. The gemstones are very nice quality and i am also stumped on what that pretty round green opalescent beads are made of. I am guessing these are 50s or 60s (?), there are no markings that i can find. Now I have this necklace with gold tone aluminum findings, would it be heishe considered? I cannot make out what it is made out of and I cannot find anything similar one of my many fire mountain gems catalogs? Heads up on the

If you're like me and offer your buyers the option of choosing insurance for less expensive items, continue to ship directly through Paypal rather than using the ebay shipping process. I just received an email from a buyer stating that they paid for insurance but it didn't look like the package was insured. And they were right, as I had never received any indication that the optional insurance had been included in their shipping costs. The shipping page through Ebay only stated that the buyer paid $3.00 for shipping first class, when, looking at the Paypal payment, the buyer had actually paid 4.70 for shipping! I refunded them the difference and apologized profusely! Paypal shows whether or not insurance was paid for when creating your shipping label. The new Ebay process gives no indication whatsoever. I guess since they want to eliminate all buyer choice for insurance they didn't think that that little tidbit of information was important to us anymore! Yet another asian seller who's really annoying me

I'm not dumb enough to buy their stuff, but a Korean seller is constantly selling glass and nickel pendants as antique and gemstone. Check out "green garnet gemstone vintage antique pendant necklace ", if it's still running. If not, no worries; it'll be relisted soon. The seller keeps putting shell items out there as carnelian and green glass as green garnet. I use Lastminuteauction a fair bit, bottom feeding. Stones gurus? What's clear bluish pink?

Ring is marked 10KGF. Stone is very clear - if you look into it from exactly the right angle there are some dark specks that appear to be in the stone and not on the bottom (though they could be reflections from the fleabites on one edge too). The setting looks like the kind that's used for real stones - but the stone is so clear I'm just not sure about it. I know you can't positively ID stones from a pic - and I am not going to spend time and probably money taking this piece of came-in-a-lot to a jeweler. What is this...probably something obvious. Rhinestone Wrap.

I'm just not sure.... Picked this up at GW today for 50 cents. It's very well made and has a memory wire sort of shape. I thought it might be an upper arm wrap but it doesn't really fit there, it looks odd, or maybe it's just my upper arm that's odd. Anyway, any ideas ? It's approx. 20" in length if it was stretched out. All prong set rhinestones. Do you think it's vintage ?

Loose Rhinestones ... a fun find

Yesterday, in either a blonde moment or an "oldtimers" moment, I locked myself out of the house. DH was at work -- on the plane, so I couldn't reach him. So, I took myself up the way to a little antique mall. Found these bags of loose rhinestones there. Some are made in Czechoslovakia, a couple bags are Western Germany. There are 2 bags of Siam Ruby rhinestones from a company that appears to have gone out of business in the 1920s. There are 2 bags of "black diamond" small chatons. There were more, but I tried to pick the bags with the most stones in the best condition. Thought you'd like to see them ... Now I'll have to figure out a storage system for them. Guess I need a trip to Hobby Lobby. * I am fairly certain that given a Cape and a nice tiara, I could save the world.

Bakelite jewelry today, the reality.

Facts Today: Bakelite jewelry has for many years, been very popular as a wearable art form. Nothing is quite as beautiful as Catalin Bakelite Cast resin finished jewelry. It is to die for, as it beauty is unequalled. Cast Bakelite, its history began with my Grandfathers company American Catalin who began producing cast Catalin Resins in 1927, that later were fabricated by others, into really wonderful things. Some of the older Catalin cast, or Marbellete, cast parts still can be found today, but most have cracked with age. There is little REAL VINTAGE PARTS left to be found, but mainly only newly made parts, from a upstate New York producer, have surfaced in the past 15 years on e bay. Years ago, many, American manufacturers made the Catalin parts into jewelry including the Marbelette company who took over producing Bakelite resin products when my Grandfather (Catalin founder) died in the 1960

Jewelry and How to Accessorize Your Clothes

Addition of accessories to any of your outfit can transform it from an ordinary outfit to a spectacular one. After a careful choice they can even adapt day wear into evening wear. This is mainly useful if you are going out straight after your working hours. Accessories add detail and personality to what you are wearing and make it individual. Think of a simple pewter shift dress. I have chosen pewter because this is a color that suits everybody. Now add a pair of knee high boots, black leather handbag, fitted jacket and a simple pendant necklace and stud earrings and you have a smart work outfit.

Goofus glass? or am I the goof?

I've seen similar pieces called goofus glass, but in doing more research I find this is one of those potential minefields where you risk categorizing the item. Most of the material does have more to do with glassware than with jewelry. So... is this a piece of goofus or should I just call it paperweight - and will the buyers find it if I do? Gustave Sherman AB Necklace/earring Set Questions Please

I'm hoping to pick your brains again, as you folks have been so helpful with my other questions. I have this Rhinestone Set. It was my Great-Grandmothers and my Mom gave it to me to sell. I noticed they were all signed "Sherman" in cursive on the back so I started researching and I would love to confirm what I found out, as I know there is a lot of mis-information in some of these guides as well. 1) Is it true that the oval plaque w/signature is older/original late 40's/50's? 2) Are the round stones called Chaton Cut? 3) Are the rectangular stones called Baguette Cuts? And are these really the most uncommon cut for Sherman? 4) Are the pear shaped stones actually called Pear cuts? 5) As the metal is still so shiny is it true it would be Rhodium Plating? 6) Are the earrings called "Pinwheels"? 7) How do you take pics to get all the colors to flash as my pics look clear and these are actually AB's as they flash w/tons of color irl ? Here are some pics and any and all help is greatly appreciatted!! TIA

sterling clasps on plastic bead necklaces? What does it mean?

I have thought about asking this question for weeks but I was afraid the answer would be so obvious that I would have to hang my head in shame. I have some plastic bead necklaces that look totally run of the mill to me but they have clasps marked either 'sterling' or '925'. The necklaces don't look homemade to me so I'm thinking they were made this way in the factory but why? I need help with this set and these plastic beads

Hello all - My jewelry addiction keeps me sane and makes me crazy at the same time. I have some questions I need help with. The gold necklace and cha-cha bracelet was bought as a set - the bracelet is signed "Bergere" the necklace has no marks that I can find but the beads are exactly the same on both - I think Swarovskis with the gold coating (is that Aurum?) Can I sell them as a Bergere set or as a "marriage"? The second set of beads are strung and move on the string, they are not molded on the string. The flower has another bead strung inside. Are they plastic or Lucite or thermoplastic - how do I describe them. On this one again, no mark or signature - any idea of what they are or where they came from. Thanks for any help. Anne

The little clip would clip over a pocket or something, but then the pencil would be hanging upside down? It actually still has lead in it, or I never would have known for sure it was a pencil. Any help with keywords or even where to list it would be appreciated! m/3340/3531087773_003260e417.jpg" width="451" height="500" alt="IMG_8909" /> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ hossy

How would you describe this design on a coil bracelet?

I had this pic on a post a few days ago. I'm going to list it and I'm fine except for describing the design. Most of Forstner's coil bracelets have a snake head on the end, I couldn't find one like this. I could use help w/descriptive terms for the swirly end of this one. I guess I'm brain dead. Thanks

Sterling earrings - need help with marks

Picked up these pretties in Friday's haul Backs are what's interesting Near as I can tell, the marks are: on the left, JA, scales and the word "kulturen", and on the right 925S and Sterling. I did find some Austrian marks using scales, but nothing with JA. Anyone recognize it? TIA.

Are these genuine Chanel?

Hello My Mother has asked me to sell these earrings for her, she says that they are original Chanel, but due to obvious legal matters I would like to make perfectly sure first. They are hallmarked with 925 and another unidentified mark. Everything else points me to the real thing, but I would be much more relaxed if I had confirmation from people who know more about this kind of jewelry than I do. Thank you in advance for any help and information.

What exactly is paste stones?

I was reading a book on jewelry today and it has a lot of pictures with very brief descriptions. The writer kept referring to the stones as "paste". What does that mean, please? I thought paste was the flat looking rhinestones you see on some of the vintage pieces. These were all different colors, sizes, and types. Some were plastic and some were glass. Carol

Sterling dress clip - help point me in the right direction

I have this beautiful dress clip and have searched all kinds of places trying to date it and find the design patent. Before I pull the rest of my hair out, could someone please point me in the right direction? The utility clip patent #1801128 is dated 4/14/1931, and the back is marked STERLING. I thought I read somewhere that Sterling was popular in the late 1930's and pre-WWII. So, any idea which companies used sterling, or are their too many to search for maker's patents? Does anyone know which designers used the utility patent so that I can search their design patents? Any other way I should search? All photos are clickable to enlarge. Thank you! Nancy When life throws you worms, go fishing!

Two more from the tub... MOP? and Tree Swing

These two are also from the tub... the MOP, sadly, is obviously broken on one side. It's about 2" round. The other is about 2" high by 1" wide at the widest point. I am considering finding a way to bezel set the MOP and perhaps make it into a pendat/necklace if it has no value as is. All comments appreciated. J.J. SnooksCorner1930 LOVIN' the SPARKLES!!!

OT I'm going nuts need some info if you have it

I registered a domain name through go daddy and started setting up a new store through auctvia commerce, went through all the steps (even printed them out) to direct my domain name to the commerce store but for days now I have been fighting it and it keeps sending it to the stupid auctvia store with my ebay auctions listed not commerce one!! I have contacted customer support and I think they just have script boxes to check for replys... Can anyone suggest a different place to set up my store? I need it to be very easy ( don't know html) and fairly inexpensive to start out I don't want to go into the hole any deeper than I am already. LOL when I do a google search I always see Morning Glory pop up everywhere (I love that store!!!) and several of the others and have always wondered where they have gone through. How to explain this repair better.

Got an email about this bracelet I sold. Link This bracelet is nice, however, the clasp will not stay closed. I cannot even wear it. It simply falls off with the slightest movement. It is the usual tongue and box clasp. I wrote a response but I want to be sure it explains the fix clearly. I have several bracelets with the same clasp and sometimes it just gets compressed too much. If you take something thin and carefully open up the tongue end it usually gives it enough tension to hold tight. __________________ Whatcha doin'?

4 pc Estate Vermeil (?) with carved beads.

Let's start with the fact that I know nearly nothing about jewelry...except what I like! I picked up four matching pieces of estate jewelry today; hinged bracelet, screw back earrings and 'clip'. The little leaf beads are carved. Faux pearls and I am guessing, vermeil? I would love to know era, general description and anything else you might be able to add, including the exact purpose of the 'clip'. No markings that I can see. Thanks for looking!

I'm back, what would you call these necklaces?

Can anyone help with the terminology I would use for these two necklaces, and do you know what kind of glass they are? I'm assuming they are glass. I know the amber/topaz colored one is older than the blue one... but both came from the same person. They were found in a house my neighbor's son bought. The first picture is actually two blue necklaces, but I'm curious about the one on the right of the picture. The second link/pic is the amber/topaz necklace. Link Link

Jewelry - earring question part #2

About a month ago you folks gave me some excellent help for a project of making earrings from fishing lures and spinner blades. It got pretty long so I'm starting a new topic now that I have some made and nearly ready for listing. Click on the Link if you want to see what came before. These are the first efforts. I stayed with surgical steel hangers for pierced ears but if these do well, I'd like to try adding clip-on

Old Cameo photo locket how do I open it as far as the photo frames?

Hi, I purchased this old locket at an estate sale and I don't see a name or any markings but I am curious about what is under one of the frames. The frame on the left is raised up and it appears that something is inside of it under the cloth or tissue. How do you get the frames open? Thank You! I haven't cleaned it or anything so please excuse the dust on the cameo.

What are these beads made of?

I got this necklace in a lot quite awhile ago. I thought it was bakelite from the pictures in the auction. I broke the necklace right away of course. Anyway the big bead is bakelite, I just don't know what the small beads are made of. Maybe they are just plastic. They don't smell, no reaction to simichrome. I put a drop of acetone on one, and there was no tackyness, it didn't affect it at all. There is no mold marks, they are quite light. Lighter than bakelite beads of the same size. They turn yellow under a fluorescent light. Some of the beads have a small amount of crazing on the ends. (the fluorescent picture is crappy, my camera would not focus too well in the dark). Those weird blue marks are some kind of reflection. It has a barrel clasp, and all of the other beads and little round things are metal of some type. Anybody have any ideas? I didn't heat them at all, with a pin or hot water, in case they are celluloid. I am going to try to re-string it, what kind of thread should I use? Thanks for any help at all! Kelly

Could Someone Help Me With aA Couple Pins Please?

The 1st is 12K G.F. but I can't tell if it is glass or stone. My knowledge on stones is pretty limited. It is very cold to the touch and is transparent when held up to light. The 2nd pin has me stumped. The marks that I can read are IRISH and initials I.S.J.? There are 3 hallmark stamps that are too small for me to read.I am assuming it is sterling silver...... My 17 yr old son has the flu, probably Swine...

...but apparently they don't test every suspected case unless they are high risk. There's been a few confirmed cases in the schools here in town and they have been refusing to shut down the schools for cleaning and hopefully breaking the cycle. He started with cough and runny nose on Thursday, got up Friday with a fever of 102.4, vomiting, headache, cough, runny nose and very gray looking. Took him to the Dr. right away and he suspects H1N1. My son has asthma so he's been put on heavy duty antibiotics, prednisone, his nebulizer, etc and to call if he gets worse. His lungs are pretty congested. He seems better this evening but he's still got a low grade fever and cough. I'll be calling the school on Monday to let them know. He got sick quickly, but it's not any more deadly than the seasonal flu, just have to watch for complications. Just venting.

Enamel or Painted? What is the metal on this old pin?

Hi - I have a question please. I was going to list this pin and thought it was hand-painted. When I got to looking at it I think it's enameled on (see metal ring surrounding front) Or maybe hand-painted then enameled? And the back is very rough. I see where it's had soldering, but I tried cleaning w/a silver cloth and that front edge of the pin has quite a bit of tarnish come off, but not so much the back of the pin. I guess it could be a lesser grade silver? what ki And the enamel part isn't a perfect finished circle, it looks cut out. Maybe it was a "kit"someone got for Christmas?

Some Q on a few pieces I have found

First is a Ship pin marked simply Spain, it looks as tho someone has turned the sails and reattached them which made the pin bow across the largest sail...is this something that would be worth having someone change or should I just try and sell it as is? Can anyone tell me anything about it and its marking of Spain?? Did I waist my small investment by bringing this home? LOL This is a beautiful porcelian brooch with a trombone clasp, it is signed and numbered? from france...can anyone recognise or read any of the writing on the back? I tried to find info on porcelian france items but didn't find anything with the letters RP or anything resembling the same type of handwritten on the back? again did I waste my small investment? Next is a dove pin, I can't figure out what this is made from, it is extremely lighweight, has no markings, is kinda cool to the touch and the pinback is not glued it is set in with a prong on each end..any ideas are much appreciated.. I know I have seen this guy somewhere before but I have searched the Coro and Trifari pat. sites and unless I sailed right past it I couldn't find it on there, does anyone remember seeing this and what kind of bird would you call it a stork? Lastly this is a bracelet and necklace set silver "X's" and Gold "O's", in very good condition and I believe it is newer but wondering if anyone can help me identify the designer..it has a "F" inside a diamond and marked 925 Italy, Thanks for any light you can shed on these for me...I know you all are busy and frustrated about the auctiva junk going on right now.
