The problem will also be in the details. You quote statistics which taken in generalities mean something, but in actuality dont.
You have to ask yourself where the murder rate in New Orleans is concentrated and where the murder rate in NL is concentrated.
Without making generalizations, you might find your ACTUAL chances of being caught up in drug violence in NL much higher if you live in a nicer area. Plus the ever-present threat of kidnapping that plague middle class areas.
