Real or fake coral braclet

Good afternoon all, I need some help on determining if this bracelet is real coral. Link Link There is color difference on the beads ranging from orange to red, I have taken some closeups pictures so that the "grain" of the beads shows. Thank you in advance for your help. Kim

The Be-All

I've managed to stumble across "American Costume Jewelry: Art

Orignal From: The Be-All

It's MOP, small, shiny and vintage...but not jewelry.

Take a look at this tiny purse. What the heck did this fit, a few small coins ? I know it's not jewelry but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas as to age. If you can help, thanks !

Possible Designer?Jeweled

Before I list these, just had a questions.....since I cannot find ANYTHING! These earrings have the "Ballou earclip Patent 1967965 of 1934 and used through the 1940's by so many companies on both signed and unsigned pieces." Would this be a designer item?, does the work look familiar to anybody? hand painted design adorned with glass stones, who may have used those tiny navy blue stones?? The earring to the left looks like it has had some red paint filled in, must have chipped at some point. Wild guess Vendome? Thanks again! my-ricky

Real or Glass???

Was looking closely at this today, because the large stone won't stay put and I need to secure it somehow. Looking through the loupe, I see no bubbles or anything that says it is glass. the color is even, it looks like a cut piece. do you think I should take it in for an expert opinion?

Does anyone recognize this silver mark?

on the clasp of an amethyst necklace, probably not too old, but nice. Its on the inside of this decorative clasp, under the u-shaped hook so its a bit of a be-ouch to see. But it looks like either a Pisces zodiac sign mark, or a 69 on its side (you may insert joke here, Tom, Smokeo or whoever ;P) On top of that is a five pointed plain crown, and on top of that is 925. I thought maybe Finnish or someplace similar but haven't had any luck yet... Hate to post and run but gotta get some reading done for a meeting tomorrow but will check back in ASAP Thanks! How do I deal with a seller who sold me fake jade?

A few days ago, I won two auctions held by the same seller for two items of jade jewelry. When my jeweler (an experienced graduate jeweler) saw the two items, he told me the items were chalcedony dyed lavender--and not jade at all. He also said that selling this material as jade was a common scam. I asked him to test the items anyway because I thought they were jade. He did so and the items were definitely not jade, but dyed chalcedony of small value. I e-mailed the seller who replied saying that I should mail the items back so that the company's jeweler can examine them. The seller has declined to send me any money to cover the expense of returning the items. I am concerned that the seller, who has some negative feedback, will claim that the items were genuine, and that I just had "buyer's remorse." If I mail the items back, the seller will have my money and the merchandise--plus I will have paid for mailing with proof of delivery. How would you handle this situation? Thanks for your advice.

Camera Recommendations HELP!

I have had the worst luck finding a camera that can take great macro photos for jewelry and other up-close pics. I've gone through two Nikon Coolpix 2200 cameras that I bought on ebay. Both of them worked great for about a month. Now, neither of them will work and they took super pictures. I have a Fujifilm Finepix A205 and it does an OK job, but nothing even close to the Nikon Coolpix 2200. What kind of camera do you use for your fantastic up-close photos? I'm going to have to get myself yet another camera for not a lot of money as I lost my job in February. Thanks for any advice! Kathi

Can I restore the luster to Mother of Pearl? Safely?

Hello all, I recently purchased an old Native American Squash Blossom necklace made of sterling silver and mother of pearl. It's pretty dirty, but I don't like to clean these old pieces. The MOP is dull, although doesn't appear to have been damaged. Is there a safe way to gently restore the luster to this material? Any help will be MUCH appreciated! Thanks, Kate

1930'Clip Gold over brass leaves-Bakelite - Book Piece!

I was just talking earlier about never having book piece and I was looking through this jewelry book and this pin below, is in "Questions about Old Jewelry 1840-1950. Its an exact match, but my problem is, the grapes didn't test out as bakelite. I had shown this pin earlier and talked about it not testing for bakelite. Maybe it is after all. I'm going to scan the page in the book and see if I can put it on here later (after dinner) and see what you all think. The book's old, from 1999 and the value says $40.00. Here's the pin again. I was so excited my heart started racing. Not because of the money or anything, just because this is the very first piece I've ever found a picture of. The description says 1930's clip gold over brass leaves and clip with Bakelite grapes 2" x 2" (photo from Jewelry Box Antiques) Isn't that awsome!

Please help me figure out where/when these were made! P

These are like a pendant I had a while back (our wonderful boardie Dede sent me the matching earrings). These look brand new ~ maybe 80's or 90's. They were in with a lot of Avon jewelry that this man said belonged to his late mother. How would you describe the pearly finish? They are only marked with a small circle that has a dot in it. Is that a clue? I'm thinking maybe imported from an Asian country. Your opinions would be appreciated! Thanks Carol

Turquoise Experts, how does one know

which mine a turquoise stone comes from? I have a lot of good old turquoise, as well as some newer pieces. I can see huge differences in color of stones and matrixes, etc. I see listings identifying which mine or which mountain some pieces come from, as if that makes a stone more desireable. I have to guess that the minerals in certain areas make for different colors and that some are better than others. I know turquoise can be dyed, reconstituted, etc. Is there a website or other source (couldn't find at Zoe's, tho sites were down) to sort stones origins. I would only say words to the effect that a piece " has the appearance of such-and-such mine stones and I am not an expert." I want to know more about it for my own info also, as I do not plan to sell off my collection till I'm fixin' to die. Thanks, guys! M

I'm a seller who also buys--don't want to leave neg. FB

Hi all! I am new to these discussion boards so if I do something wrong or inappropriate please let me know! I'm a seller who also buys merch. I bought a ring for 9.99 described as a diamonique 2 carat SS ring. When I received it today it was not diamonique or 2 carats--the heart stone measured is 6 mmx6mm at the widest points When I wrote to the seller--who has a no return policy, he wrote back that his wife has a ring exactly like it and she loves hers and since I only paid 9.99 it shouln't bother me. I don't care if I spent 0.99 0r $99, the ring was misrepresented. I have never left neg. feedback before, but I feel since the listing wasn't honest I should get my $ back. Any suggestions?

Two questions about 2 necklaces I want to sell...

Hi there... I was wondering if anyone could help me with these two things... 1. i have an 18k white gold necklace with sapphires and diamonds... price i paid for it a few years ago was $3000 from long's jewelers in boston, MA (am in Cali now ), but I don't know the carat weight and dont have $$ to go get it appraised 9hence why am selling it!)... so i was wondering how detrimental this would be to the potential sale of the item? If I went to a jeweler would they be willing to just give me a roundabout guess-timate on carat? 2. Please see picture below... I bought it 4 years ago in kenya... its set on sterling silver... i "think" it is sea or shell fossil, but could also be onyx? any ideas...? They had told me what it was but was so long ago it slipped my mind... Link

Thanks again! To all! Ran across this cute little deco charm bracelet, 2 charms are missing...it is completely unmarked....I get the feeling at least the 2 movable charms may be sterling but again no stampings....the only stampings on this piece is the hardware to the clasps, both ends have this floral design similar to Ballou, just curious what you all think....do you think Ballou is responsible here? Didn't crystal companies such as Lalique make these? I think it is just darling! Second, is a banded ball of lucite with a bubble in the center, inside the bubble is a small pink ball that jiggles around in there. It seems to be very well made and looks like a 60's piece to me. I hope I'm not disturbing your busy day!! From reading all your posts, I see you are our resident NA expert. This bracelet is all glass beads. I wouldn't wear it because it seems fragile in some places, particularly at the ends. The ends are leather with old snaps. Could this be made by Boucher for a store label?

I have a brooch that has a mark that I'm not very sure about. The mark says D'ORIANS. Here's the brooch and the mark: The only thing that I could find about D'Orians is that it might possibly be a Mexican department store. Today I was browsing jewelry and came across the same brooch - 4th one down on the page: Link I have counted the rhinestones, measured the size, etc. and it seems to be exactly the same. My brooch is a heavy, nicely made piece with the weight of quality. Did Boucher make things for stores to sell under their own store label?

I received an email from a customer yesterday, saying she only got 1 earring in her package. I am 99% certain I shipped both, but the 1% doubt led me to tell her I would refund her money if I didn't find the earring here. The odd part is I got the same claim from another customer today. Again, 99% sure I shipped them both, and the alledged missing earrings are definately not here. I got this little darling Coro brooch a couple of years ago. Researched him some, w/o much luck. Put him up for safekeeping, and could never find him again. Speaks volumes for my organizational skills. Smirk I have searched the web for a patent, or anything like him ~ until I am cross eyed. Sure looks a lot like the 40's Katz stuff, but can't get anything close. I did post him here when I first got him, but neglected to save it.and was hoping maybe some of the new eyes might have some information. Like to list him in my store, but NO idea of price. He seems like something pretty special, and the enamel work is in fantastic shape. Anyway ~ isn't it great when you find something you were sure was lost forever? Bran

Am I right this is Victorian Revival because of the roll over c clasp? 2 3/8" x 1 1/8" / glass cameo / brass stampings and I lost my bookmarks awhile back and have yet to re-due all of them. Was there a site that had a lot of the "subjects" identified? or do you know either of these? 1. 2. TIA Rena

Large Red Glass Beads Necklace whats this construction called?

Morning everyone... I actually have a couple of questions on this necklace. There are several different shapes and it is red all the way through, some scratching of some of the beads shows it is not a applied finish, Heavy too... Q 1 What is the construction called when it is made like this with the wire going through each bead, looped and connected to the next one and is there a specific time frame that this was used most? Q 2 How do you tell if its crystal rather than glass..I know this has been discussed a bazillion times here but I have really never had anything that I needed to pay attention to the conversation before. This necklace is 34 inches around, I love the red!! Thanks in advance anyone and everyone!! Cathy Keep the candle burning till they are all home safe!!

Epiphany about listing NA

While talking to an Ebay rep the other day I asked about the Unsigned Artisan sub-category in the Native American jewelry category. I was told: After further research it appears the unsigned subcategory is the exception under Native American jewelry. You still can't describe your item as Native American so, it would be just like listing in the southwestern category. You could list the appropriate items in both categories to increase visibility. I was confused because it was my understanding that nothing not proven NA and marked as such was allowed in the NA category at all. A light bulb went off last night. There is nothing saying you can't list in that category, you just can't use any NA words in the title. Here is the wording from the policy: If the artisan name and tribe or certifying tribe is unknown, the piece can't be described as "Native American," "American Indian," or "Alaska Native." These items also can't be listed in the Native Americana category, which is designed for authentic Native American arts and crafts. eBay supports the letter and spirit of the Indian Arts and Crafts Act, so sellers can't use words like "Indian

CAN U HELP ID VICTORIAN/EDWARDIAN GOLD LAVALIER?

Hi folks - basically, my question is this - can you tell me which way is up? I would love to restore this early seed pearl lavalier, but I'm not sure if the chain would have attached at either side to the double loops, and a baroque pearl dangle would have hung from the single lower loop, or if it had two baroque pearl dangles hanging from both loops, and the single loop originally took the bale? Thanks so much in advance for any help you can provide! skippy527

Lucite rhinestone pin fix-up questions

Hi, I found this little lucite and rhinestone cutie today at the second day of a tag sale for $1. I wonder how many people passed him up yesterday? Anyway I was wondering about fixing him up. He needs a good cleaning I know! He has a missing eye, it looks like a small yellow cab with the pupil painted on, I can fix that no problem. But what do I use to clean off the old glue? Will acetone hurt the lucite? Is Hypo Cement OK to use on lucite? There is an area on the tip of his tail with what I think are remnants of paint, should I clean it off since it is so small? Thank you! Marie

Never Argue with a Woman One morning the husband returns after several hours of fishing and decides to take a nap. Although not familiar with the lake, the wife decides to take the boat out. She motors out a short distance, anchors, and reads her book. Along comes a Game Warden in his boat. He pulls up alongside the woman and says, 'Good morning, Ma'am. What are you doing?' 'Reading a book,' she replies. 'You're in a Restricted Fishing Area,' he informs her. 'I'm sorry, officer, but I'm not fishing. I'm reading.' 'Yes, but you have all the equipment. For all I know, you could start at any moment. I'll have to take you in and write you up.' 'For reading a book?' she replies. 'You're in a Restricted Fishing Area,' he informs her again. 'If you do that, I'll have to charge you with Sexual assault,' says the woman. 'But I haven't even touched you,' says the game warden. 'That's true, but you have all the equipment. Just had a

My Hattie Carnegie sold. For opening bid of $99.99 but sold nonetheless. Shipping was clearly described in the listing as being Priority, including insurance and signature confirmation for $11. That is a little high since I provided for the item going up to $400 worth of insurance just in case. Buyer messages right after the auction ends asking why my shipping is 3x the amount of any other necklace. I send a short and sweet email explaining, get another email back asking if I'm charging for the case in my shipping. I send back saying no, but I charge for the weight. I also explain that the insurance was high and I will prob end up issuing a small refund for the extra insurance. She emails back saying she ships $500 suits in a priority flat rate for $10 no confirm no insurance and was just curious how I could get away with that! I sent back...um...look at my listings...I usually ship first class free shipping cuz everything I sell is like $10-$30, I just want to make sure I cover my butt! So I go to send her invoice and she's already paid and sent me one more email saying "thank you thank you thank you for this beautiful piece. thank you over and over". ........ PHEW!!!!! CZs and Zircons are not the same. A Zircon is a natural stone, a CZ is not

When you purchase Jewelry, a Zircon is a wonderful diamond imitation that is a natural stone. Be careful when purchasing Zircons on ebay, so many people think that Zircons and CZs are the same thing. They are not, a CZ is glass and a Zircon is a natural stone. The zircon is quickly becoming popular again and has gone up in price. If you can't afford a diamond, try a Zircon. When you see something advertised as a zircon please question if it is a natural stone. I have purchased Zircons from China, only to fine when tested it was a CZ.

Totally OT:But I Need to Vent

As some of the old timers know I am a 2 time cancer survivr with MS, ankolysing spondylitis and advanced degenerative disc disease. I recently fractured my ankle and had to be recasted yesterday back to the plaster cast again. The ankle is not forming a "bone callous," and the fiberglass cast was allowing too much movement. The anger is this: I take Vicodin 3 times a day, and fought doing so because I was afraid i was getting addicted. Finallly the pain clinic had a meeting with Sherry and me with pain psych. present and said I would get physically addicted but not psychologically. So I gave in a did it and has changed our lives for the better 100 fold. Now the pain clinic is reusing to refill early!! I had to double the dosage, per orthopedists when I first fx my ankle. So I used more. I am so PO'd because neither the ortho. or pain clinic is talking to each other to iron this out and I am caught in the middle. There, I feel all better now and will likely be on the phone all day getting this straightened out. The a--holes make me feel like a dealer trying to get a fix. Tom

More beads. Could a Castlecliff necklace be amber?

I have this necklace, signed Castlecliff on the back. I would just about swear the beads are amber. They are definitely not plastic, something about them makes me think they don't quite feel or tap like glass, they are almost more like rock. Is there a way to tell? I have checked out and researched Castlecliff a little bit but haven't found any references to them using real amber or anything. One of the beads in the necklace is actually broken in half. Is there some way of testing on the broken one? (obviously without having to damage the necklace further by removing the bead) Sorry, I don't have a picture of them alone, other than the close ups. The first pic is in a group of other beads that I wanted to ask about anyway! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ hossy

What to do about terrible stench in a horrible lot?

I just received a jewelry box lot today which is definitely not even close to being as described and worse yet, it literally stinks! Strongly; of what I like to refer to as 'Dead Old Lady' perfume. As soon as I opened the box it was instant headache from the smell! Then things went from bad to worse when I saw that seller had taped the vintage jewelry box closed with pkg tape so when tape came off so did outside covering of jewelry box. Now ruined. Next came the jewelry- it should have been sold as a junk lot because that is what it is, there are only a couple wearable pieces and they reek. I emailed seller and rather than reply she just credited me a small part of purchase. I contacted her again and said I would rather return the lot. That sent her into a tirade. So I was thinking to just cut my losses and salvage what I can but I need to get rid of this smell. Any ideas on how to do that? There are 2 plastic bead Japan necklaces that are in good shape but the perfume seems to have permently permeated them.

How to respond to buyer, lost Int'l package

I sent an item to Spain on 5/21 by FCI, insured by Shipsurance. Buyer filed INR with Paypal on 6/21 without contacting me first. I replied that it was mailed the day after payment was made and that it could take 6-8 weeks for int'l packages to arrive. I also wrote to the seller that he should try the customs number at his PO, as I had been advised by other sellers it often worked to find packages. He said he would wait a while longer for it to arrive. Today, 7/8 he escalated to a claim only saying it appears to be lost but the customs number didn't show where it is currently which, of course, it won't, he only paid $5 for shipping so there is no tracking. He hasn't left any negs before so I'm hoping to avoid one now. I figured I should respond that the next step would be filing with Shipsurance but I'm awful at wording. I also want to be sure to let him know, without coming right out and saying it, that I don't want a neg. lol I've never had an int'l package go missing before. __________________ Whatcha doin'?

Could someone guess age/dates on 3 these necklaces?

I have this necklace and earring carnival glass set. The beads match perfectly on the 2 pieces, however the earrings are in silver toned metal and the necklace clasp is marked J.M.S. 1/20 12 KTGF. So either the necklace was restrung (and the string does look newer) or it's just not an original set. Does someone know when they started making carnival glass beads? I'd like to list w/an accurate age/date. Thanks much This necklace is all brass. Would it be India? It's very long w/no catch. Just these beads all the way around. Then this last one. Czech I think. The beads fit each other in a neat pattern. Original knotted stringing. No catch. Beads are all pretty rough, lots of bubbles, faceted but every bead has roughness to the glass. Did a couple photos through loop.

Fob / Seals

I dont think I have ever seen a detailed discussion here on JB about the dating and identification of Fob Seals . So to recap a little about them - I am taking a direct quote here from the three graces website :- "It was in battle that the need for armorial bearings arose. In times of warfare it was the nobility, the land-owners, who were called upon for leadership, and each landowner would control his small group of illiterate men in battle. With the helmet of a suit of armor closed in battle it would have been difficult to identify the man inside, hence the distinctive coat of arms pictured on a shield and embroidered surcoat became an essential. Armorial devices were originally the prerogative of the upper class" So can anyone enlighten us on criteria for dating fob seals ? Maybe recommend a good book ? Stylistically what seperates a Georgian Fob / Seal from a Victorian Fob / Seal ? Is it simply a matter of closed settings and signs of handmade craftsmanship, toolmarks ? or is there more ? How do armorials on seals get identified ? - Where do people look to do this ? I figure you must need the understand the basics of heraldry to be able to do this ? I have a couple of examples to post. Will get pics done and put them up here.

VERY upset, necklace arrived BROKEN.

Well...it finally happened. I've been selling on Ebay since '97 and I had an item arrived broken. I'm very upset as I package very well and this was a very expensive necklace. The buyer informed me that a strand was broken and the crystals broken to bits. If you look at this necklace, you'll see it's made up of 8 crystal strands. I wrapped the strands in tissue paper then wrapped the disc and then wrapped the whole thing in tissue paper. I then put it in a sturdy cardboard jewelry box, taped the top shut nice and snug so there was no shifting inside. Then I put packing paper wadded up all around the box and put it in another Priority box for shipping, one of the larger VHS mailing ones. It was very secure with no room for shifting. The buyer said the outside box wasn't damaged but the necklace was in pieces. I paid for insurance but what are the odds the P.O. will pay the claim ? I told the buyer to initiate the claim because if she mails it back it voids the insurance. I told her to take the ENTIRE thing, along with the auction page to show purchase price to her local P.O. and to submit the claim. Was that the right thing to do ? Auction # 180371075073

Thanks in advance. Also...any ideas on how to clean them up a bit? Here is the first pair: And here is the 2nd pair:

I have some questions on a few pieces please?

Had a good auction today and to start off is this little scarcrow guy who I think he is? Looks like the back pin has been replaced and he's seen better days but I was wondering if he as the Trifari guy? (really sorry about the rotten pics but I'm still going through stuff and it's on the fly) These are blackamoors? No marks that I can see but isn't there a known maker of these or are they pretty standard? I know zilch about micro mosaics, this one is marked made in italy, is it a decent one? Thanks in advance so much. These are all pieces I've seen I think but I don't know diddly about.

WTH Happened?

I haven't been here in a while selling or buying and started looking at auctions. I see that ebay has now made it even easier for people not to have to scroll and read the text and they can just go by the pictures and then complain bout the item because they didn't read the description. I hate it. I keep scrolling to see pics and there are none because they are all at the top and you have to click every dam* one to see them

I can't figure this cameo out!! Help.

It's the cameo on the RIGHT. The background has an iridescence like MOP. The design is on the inside of the Lucite cab. It looks like flowers are actually encased. I don't think it's reversed carved, but I could be very wrong. The center of the flowers are very detailed with the stamen and all. I think part of it might be reverse carved and part just encased. Anyone have any ideas> Cheryl

Lexy, I have a question about a wedding chain

I saw one yesterday at a local shop. I didn't buy it coz I really know nothing about them. The shop owner said it was a Mexican Wedding Chain Necklace. It was really long and the links were pretty and intricate. I can't find any on ebay in completeds, and I only saw one online at worthpoint but they didn't say how much it sold for. Do you have any info about them? Thanks, kiddo!

Another way to clean the greenies...............

A little while back I won an auction for a souvenir coin, knowing beforehand I was going to have to deal with the "greenies." After receiving it, I visited the Coin Board and asked them the best way to clean it to get rid of it, if it was possible. One of the posters suggested soaking in olive oil for at least a week, but considering the amount of verdigris it might take longer (he said he has soaked stuff for months!), and may not work for all of it. Here's the befores........... I've had it soaking for about two weeks. Today I decided to see how well it's done, took it out of the olive oil, cleaned it with ordinary dish liquid and dried with a soft cloth........... I've put it back in to see if it can do better, but even if not, I'm still pretty pleased with how it's turned out. Now, I haven't tried this on any jewelry as of yet, but I'm thinking for any rings, bracelets or necklaces that have verdigris this might be a great (and easy, it just washed right off without any "picking") alternative to vinegar. I have no idea, however, how it would work around rhinestones, though. I think I may have something to try it on that I won't be upset if I ruin it. If I can find it and try it, I'll post it here. Or if someone else gives it a shot, post the befores and afters! Carol

Is this vintage necklace ivory? Bone? More questions...

The color seems rather deep for ivory. But I'm none too familiar with it, and perhaps it darkens as it ages. If it is ivory, what are the ebay rules for selling it? This seems Asian to me. Can someone narrow that down for me, and possibly date the piece? I'll show a close-up of the beads -- which are very cool -- as well as the back of the pendant. Thank you! Three pix:

I'm sad my first negative experience on ebay

I returned something and now the seller thinks I was sending back a item I got somewhere else and not from them. I won't go into details. But I am sad to think someone out there think I am trying to pull a fast one. That is not the type of person I ma. My bone headed dumb self didn't return it in original packaging in. I didn't have the bx and used another box I had at home. After reading about calico's ordeal I was afraid I had messed up by not having the original package. I apparently did mess up. I haven't heard back from them but can they send me an invoice for shipping charges to pay by paypal and ship it back? I don't know if you can do just a shipping charge like this thru paypal. Anybody know?

RE: I'M Baacckk!! Need help with two items...

My girlfriend listing these two items tonight...I checked out Hallmarks of the Southwest, but because some of the name is under the solder work, couldn't find anything...maybe it will ring a bell with someone on this incredible forum!! Thank you in advance...here is her email to me regarding items: Kat.... "Here is a little sterling bottle. It's not a perfume bottle because there are holes in the bottle. In other words there is no glass lining inside the silver container. That hallmark looks like Cr but upside-down it kind of looks like tD. ??? The ring has a name that I can't figure out. I think some of the letters to the last name are under solder. I can only read ELACY on the last name and the initials on the first name are F.W. "

Cathedral window pin

I think I've seen this before and it's from a famous cathedral or something. Anybody remember the thread about it? It was a while ago so search didn't help. I had a hard time getting a pic of the marks, they are tiny. I couldn't even see them with my loupe, the super macro camera is the only way I can even get a glimpse of them. The only other mark is silver. It was sold as New-Old-Stock so I don't know the age. __________________ Whatcha doin'?

Huge Honking Necklace. Chinese symbol for? Is this cinnabar?

Not sure I spelled the cinnabar right? This thing is massive! I think it's Chinese, but spent forever last night trying to identify the symbol with no luck at all. The floral urns are prong set, and don't feel like plastic. The necklace isn't overly heavy but has a nice weight to it. The charms all tinkle very nicely. Any ideas or thoughts about how to describe this? Is this a festoon necklace? I don't think it really old.... but what do I know? Thanks in advance for any ideas! Bran

Can we talk Cameo's? lol..2 of them - help needed thanks

I got these 2 Cameo's yesterday in a junk bag from the local TS...I don't know anything about Cameo's and can't tell good bad. They appear both to be shell? they are not plastic..but that is all I know - any thoughts on age, or any information you can give would be great. Unfortunately the bigger one has kinda sunk into the setting.

Can this Trifari earring be repaired?

Good morning all, I won this Gem of India set last week and the second time I tried the earring on, the back came off. It is broke where it was soldered to the earring. I am broken hearted, especially since I bought it for resale in Italy. Does anyone know if it can be repaired? Can someone please tell me it's possible?? Thanks so much, Denise

A little humor ~ Marriage according to children!

This came in an email. It's really cute! HOW TO DECIDE WHO TO MARRY.... You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. -- Alan, age 10 No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with.... -- Kristen, age 10 WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED? Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then. -- Camille, age 10 HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED? You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids. -- Derrick, age 8 WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON? Both don't want any more kids.. -- Lori, age 8 WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE? Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough... -- Lynnette, age 8 (isn't she a treasure?) On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date.. -- Martin, age 10 (isn't he ready for the world of dating?) WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR? I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns. -- Craig, age 9 WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE? When they're rich. -- Pam, age 7 The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that. -- Curt, age 7 The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them... It's the right thing to do. -- Howard, age 8 IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED? It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. -- Anita, age 9 (bless you child) HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED? There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there? -- Kelvin, age 8 (I like this kid) And the #1 Favorite is .... HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK? Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck. -- Ricky, age 10 (He'll be married forever) Carol

re: an unusual

Hi, another email with some info on another item for my girlfriend...looks like a great find, but I have no idea what it is! Hopefully someone will recognize what the pelican symbolizes or the letters on the piece? Here is her initial email: "Notice the pelican feeding her chicks. Weird. This is 1/20 12K and has a real ruby...I have no clue what this could be." Thank you so much!!! You are all wonderful...kat

Austrian vs. Austria stones?

My piece is stamped Astria and the stones look sort of "frosty" for lack of a better term. The ones I've browsed through on here use Astrian and Astria to describe clear stones. Can someone please tell me the difference and what is it that I have here? Thanks~Kim My Mighty!!

Some pieces I got today, some questions please.

I got this lot (along with some other pieces) in a grab bag at the flea market today. I was wondering about these for now though. TIA ! This is a VERY heavy goldtone link choker marked CINER. It's in rough condition, needs a good cleaning. It seems to be coated with gunk and the pave' rhinestones have a bit of greenies. Is there any way to clean pave' set stones of greenies ? It's missing a stone on his nose as well, should I replace and disclose or list without ? Second, this pin. I've seen these before but never asked what they are. It's in the general shape of a safety pin. Seems to be pot metal with yellow stones and rhinestones. Were these types of pins used for anything special ? Third, how old do you think this little pin is ? It has a c clasp but seems newer to me. Lastly, this pave' set hand holding a faux pearl. Was there a special timeframe for when these were popular ?

OT: Is there a way to get to the END of a thread?

Like to just see the last few posts? I know I can change it in my settings to show the last post first, but I don't want to always see the last first, just occasionally. Right now I have to scroll to the bottom of the page and then hit the right arrow over and over for long threads like the chat. Am I missing something (besides the few loose screws that we won't talk about!)? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ hossy

Victorian necklace? I am needing some help boardies!

Found this gorgeous little girl this morning. Been snooping, trying to learn, and I think its lapis and marcasite, and is maybe victorian era? Very dainty. The links on the chain are very fine and keep wanting to bind up... Does that make sense? Apogize in advance. The necklace is upside down in my pics. I know I am a third shifter, but even I should have caught that one. LOL It is a dull silver color. What amazes me is how the little sheltie dog hairs can latch on to something I have had for less than 24 hours. Sorry for carpy pics, its early or late and I didn't want to take them again. She is not marked anywhere ~ and for lack of better words, seems very delicate or fragile. Is the type of chain called hairpin? I loved her, but need some help about if the stones are lapis, and any idea of age. I might be all wrong about it being victorian era. Just going by a few hours on ebay, and you know how wrong that can be at times. Thanks for any info you can give me. Way too small for my neck~ one easy way to sell them things you like Bran

Lexy and others Native American Dragon's Breath

I know several times in the dragon's breath conversations some have said that the Native American Jewelry did not use them. Here is an item I picked up a few month's back and just got around to taking the time to post for you all to see. I'm sure that these were made in a manufacturing plant that employed NA help and not by an individual artist, but I thought you might enjoy seeing them.

Help ID Antique ART NOUVEAU Buckle - Maker's Mark

Thank you for taking a look at this old bat wing shaped belt buckle. I'm thinking that the stones go at the bottom? There are some stamped marks in the back bar, but the only one that can be seen clearly is an S (I think). Does anyone recognize this as a maker's mark. Also, is there a name for the stones - perhaps glass? I thought of moonstones, but they are light blue. Any help most appreciated.
